Who remembers the cyclist who was fired after being photographed raising her middle finger to President Donald Trump’s passing motorcade has had more than $55,000 raised for her on a crowdfunding site.

Juli Briskman was sacked from her position in marketing for government contractor Akima LCC on Halloween after the photograph when viral.

At the time, the 50-year-old said she was escorted from the building and told by her bosses that they wanted her to be professional.

Ms Briskman later said: “I wasn’t even at work when I did that. But they told me I violated the code of conduct policy.”

In an interview with the Washington Post, she said at the time she had been thinking about Mr Trump’s response to the devastation caused in Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria as well as her concern for a friend in the diplomatic corps, who was worried about job security
I was thinking about all this, tooling along, when I see the black cars come and I remember, oh yeah, he was back on the golf course,” she said.

As the motorcade passed she made the profane gesture towards the president, which was then captured by Agence France-Presse and Getty photographer, Brendan Smialowski.

The image quickly went viral and Ms Briskman said she initially notified her employers as a “heads-up”.
